Sit! And Meditate…

Having meditated off and on since I was 18 (You do the math.),
I feel compelled to assure you that very few people meditate daily
every day of their life.
Most people have moments (some very long moments)
when sitting quietly becomes anathema to inner peace–
The struggle undermines what peace they are able to feel.

So, most of us swing back and forth.
Some weeks or years, we are able to make time every day without fail
or, at least, most of the days. 🙂

Some weeks or years, the pressure to sit and meditate
becomes just another thing to do on our growing list of things to do.
And we resist.
Or, sometimes, we stop.

I can tell you, though, because I’ve lived through lots of different moments,
the STRUGGLE to sit quietly, to meditate
teaches us as much as or more, perhaps, 
than the sitting quietly.

It’s important to remember that for most of us,
sitting quietly/meditating is…
work.  

It’s also very important to remember that
You’re. worth. the. work.

And it’s helpful, at least now and then,
to have guidance.

Guided meditations are a dime a dozen.
(I’ve done several, as a matter of fact!)

The key is to find the ones that resonate with you.

On a fairly regular basis, Oprah and Deepak Chopra
offer 21-day meditations for free.

They have one coming up that begins on November 2, 2015.
Their most recent meditation series on Gratitude and Grace
was one of my absolute favorites. I loved that it was filled
with thoughts that I had shared with my yoga classes for years.
I loved that it brought together so many ideas that I’ve embraced
over the years.

It really spoke to my heart.

This new one promises to be lovely also.

Be open to the experience.
